AFC Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest

Bournemouth emerge as comfortable victors in this Premier League fixture as they deservedly beat Nottingham Forest 2-0. First-half goals from Tavernier and Kroupi were enough for the Cherries to secure all three points and to move second in the Premier League. Nottingham Forest remain in the relegation zone at present, still searching for a first away win of the league season. Bournemouth began proceedings with intent, attacking from the off and beginning on the front foot. They tested Sels on several occasions, with the keeper proving equal to the task, that is, until the 25th minute when his error gifted the hosts the lead. A Tavernier corner found its way straight into the net as the keeper flapped at the ball before it made its way under the bar to make it 1-0. Bournemouth would control proceedings in the first half as they piled on the pressure, and in the 40th minute, they would make it 2-0 as a long-distance Kroupi effort would dip into the bottom left-hand corner past the hapless Sels. The hosts would push for more before the interval but would be unable to find a way through. Forest would improve in the second half but would be unable to find a way through Bournemouth. There were not many chances of note for either side after the interval apart from the Forest captain’s shot, and Bournemouth would move to second in the Premier League. A deserved victory, having created 13 chances through the match, with five of those on target, giving them an xG of 0.59. They also limited Forest to an xG of 0.35 from their four shots on target, having a total of eight. Bournemouth will now prepare for a trip to Manchester City next weekend. Meanwhile, Forest will look to find a way out of the relegation zone beginning next week with their home game against Manchester United.

WHAT A SAVE! Petrovic manages to deny Nottingham Forest a way back into this game as he turns a Gibbs-White effort around the post. The effort from the English midfielder was destined for the far corner of the goal. Hutchinson’s back heel was the perfect pass for Gibbs-White to fire first time. A dipping effort curling away from the goal was pushed aside by Petrovic for a corner, an important save to stop the start of a Forest comeback.

A perfect counter attack from Bournemouth apart from the finish. Semenyo carried the ball from defence to the opposition half before playing the ball across the pitch to Brooks. The Welsh international slips the ball forward to Christie through the heart of the Forest defence and he tries to flick the ball back; however, his teammates were not on the same wave length as there was nobody there to finish it off and Forest clear from the edge of their penalty area.

An easy save for Petrovic in the Forest goal, as he clutches an Awoniyi shot to his chest. The momentum from Forest in this second half as they search for a goal to get them back into the game has seemingly disappeared. Bournemouth are now starting to get a hold on the ball once again and create chances, while Forest are struggling to create anything of note in the final third.

AFC Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest

15:21

The tempo of the Bournemouth attack is not as quick as the first half and this is allowing Forest to get back into shape. While this may have been the case in the first half and they were able to move through the Forest defence with quick incisive passing, they are not doing that since the interval, happy to just keep hold of the ball and pass it around the visitors’ defensive shape.

AFC Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest

15:18

15:16

Gibbs-White is finding more joy in this opening period of the second half compared to the whole first half, as he is receiving the ball on the half turn and looking to make things tick for the Forest team. AFC Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest

15:06

Bournemouth have been in complete control in the first half and deserve their 2-0 lead over Nottingham Forest. The hosts have, right from the off, looked to go at the visitors, confident from their start to the Premier League season. They have not allowed the visitors time on the ball, as seen in their control of possession, holding 63.6%, demonstrating their domination in this department. The Cherries have looked to create chances throughout, not settling to just hold the ball but first to take the lead and then build on it once ahead. Bournemouth have had 11 attempts at goal, with five of those on target, giving them an xG of 0.51. They are not worried about creating clear openings but looking to test Sels in the Forest goal. Meanwhile, they have reduced the visitors to just one shot on goal, with a total of three attempts, giving them an xG of 0.12. Sean Dyche will need to look at changing several things to get something in the second half from his side, who have struggled to live with this Bournemouth side at times. Will we see personnel changes or an alteration of shape?

AFC Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest

15:00

Bournemouth enter the interval with a deserved 2-0 lead, as they have completely dominated proceedings, while Forest have struggled to get a grip in this game. Goals from Tavernier and Kroupi have put the hosts in a dominant position for the second half. The hosts got off to a flying start as they tested Sels within the opening two minutes as he was forced to push a Tavernier effort around the post for a corner. Bournemouth would control possession and create chances at will throughout the first half. The hosts would create several chances before their opening goal, keeping the Forest keeper honest. However, he would be at fault for the opening goal of the game in the 25th minute from Tavernier, as the Bournemouth winger floated a corner into the net direct from a corner as the Forest keeper flapped at the ball. The hosts would continue their dominance and continue to pepper the goal with chances. It would be 2-0 on the 40th minute as Kroupi received the ball just inside the Forest half, driving towards the net, moving into a central area and shooting from around 25 yards out. The ball dipped into the bottom corner of the Forest goal past Sels, who could not get anywhere near it. GOAL! Kroupi makes it 2-0 to Bournemouth with a fine strike, continuing his fine form in front of goal scoring three in his last four. A fantastic advantage being played by the referee as Anderson drags Adams to the ground in the middle of the pitch; however, the ball falls to Kroupi. He drives forward from just inside the Forest half taking it forward to around 25 yards out. Kroupi strikes the ball towards goal from a central area. The shot dips in the air as it flies to the left-hand side of the goal right into the corner of the net, giving the diving Sels no chance. A fine goal to double the lead of Bournemouth, and what they deserve from their first half performance.

AFC Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest

14:44

Tavernier is a constant threat to this Forest team and they can’t deal with him. He has already had four shots, two on target. He has created three chances to this point, being the most creative player on the pitch. His impact is creating space for the other Bournemouth attackers.

AFC Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest

14:41

WHAT A SAVE! Slick football from Bournemouth moving the Forest defence out of shape. The ball moving to the right for Tavernier before he plays it back into the middle to Scott who fires his shot first time. Curling towards the bottom right-hand post only a hand from Sels turns it behind for another corner.

AFC Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest

14:38

Nottingham Forest have come out of their shell now and are trying to take the game to Bournemouth slightly, attempting to attack with more pace and purpose; however, they are lacking any real structure to their attack at the moment, as players seem to be taking individual responsibility to spark life back into their side.

GOAL! Bournemouth make it 1-0 in extraordinary circumstances. Tavernier manages to curl the corner straight into the net. Nottingham Forest will feel aggrieved in a number of ways as they witnessed the ball float under the bar past Sels.An inswinger from the Bournemouth winger with his left foot. The visitors will believe that it should not have been a corner to begin with, as it knocked off Tavernier. However, Sels looks incredibly disappointed that the corner sailed under the bar past him, complaining he got a slight push from Adams; however, it was minimal. A strange goal to concede and now Forest must chase an equaliser.

AFC Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest

14:27

Forest finally have their first shot of the match. It is nowhere near worrying Petrovic in the Bournemouth goal, though, as the half-volley on the edge of the penalty area from Williams flies high and wide. However, that is more encouraging for the visitors.
