Aer Lingus issues apology to customers after airline's website went down for 'essential maintenance'

Aer Lingus has apologised for an 'issue' which caused its website to go offline for several hours on Monday.

Passengers took to social media expressing their concern with the website reportedly out of action since 12pm.

One customer tweeted: "I am trying to check-in for my flight for very early tomorrow morning but your website and mobile app aren't responsive. What do I do?"

In response to another query, Aer Lingus said: "Our Web Team are working to fix this, however, we don't have an expected time this will be done by. Apologies for the inconvenience.

"Both the App and website have been affected by the same issue.

"We recommend you allow enough time for airport check-in as there may be higher than usual volumes of guests checking in due to the website issues."

A spokesman for Aer Lingus said: "AerLingus.com was experiencing issues this afternoon and was inaccessible for a period of time.

"We can confirm however our website is now back up and running. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
