Adults Season 2 Is Getting Some Major Celeb Cameos Including This Podcaster & Disney Star

Some people go to therapy. I, unfortunately, watched Adults and immediately adopted “mind wipe” as a legitimate coping mechanism.

So yes, I am thrilled (and a tiny bit concerned for my emotional development) to report that Adults season two finally has a release date. FX has confirmed the show is returning with eight new episodes, and our favourite dysfunctional Queens, New York share house is about to start making terrible choices again very soon.

Here’s everything we know about season two of Adults.

When is the Adults season two release date?

Mark it down: all eight episodes of Adults season two will land on August 28 in Australia.

The full season will drop at once on Disney+ at 11am AEST. So yes, this is your official permission slip to cancel plans and absolutely demolish the whole thing in one sitting.

Who is cast in Adults season two?

The core chaos crew is back: Malik Elassal as Samir, Lucy Freyer as Billie, Jack Innanen as Paul Baker, Amita Rao as Issa and Owen Thiele as Anton.

Season one had iconic cameos including Julia Fox and Charlie Cox and season two is continuing the tradition in a way that feels mildly unhinged (complimentary). We’re getting appearances from Susie Essman, Raven-Symoné, Gaten Matarazzo, Jake Shane, Isaac Powell, Ben Marshall and Zosia Mamet.

Did someone say diva convention!?

What will Adults season two be about?

If season one was about figuring out how to be an adult, season two is about doing that while being emotionally entangled with your entire friend group. Nightmare!

Co-creator Ben Kronengold summed it up perfectly, telling Teen Vogue the new season explores “what it means to grow up with four other people strapped to your back”.

We’re picking up after that loaded finale which saw the impending love triangle between Issa, Paul Baker and Anton take shape, but don’t expect immediate resolution.

According to co-creator Rebecca Shaw, “We want to do justice to how Issa and Paul Baker are feeling, in addition to how Paul Baker and Anton are feeling.”

So yes, the love triangle is still very much triangle-ing.

Just become a throuple already!! (Image: FX)

The official synopsis also promises a fresh batch of deeply relatable spirals, including:

“What if the 20-year-old who inherited your fake ID is cooler than you ever were, and younger than you’ll ever be again? How do you explain to your friends that you actually love your boring office job? Why does being around your family make you regress into your worst self?”

The season leans into the idea that these characters aren’t necessarily growing out of their mess, they’re just finding new and creative ways to make it worse and I can’t wait!!

Is there an Adults season two trailer?

At the time of writing, there’s no full trailer just yet.

There has been a first look and early previews (including a Tribeca Film Festival premiere on June 11), so a proper trailer feels imminent. Translation: start emotionally preparing now.

The chaotic sitcom universe we deserve

There’s also something very satisfying about where Adults sits in the current TV landscape. Every generation gets their New York friend-group show, and this is very much Gen Z’s entry into the tradition.

And with Not Suitable for Work also in the mix (also set in New York, also on Disney+), I would just like to formally pitch a crossover episode where all of these deeply chaotic 20-somethings are forced into the same room.

Think about it: shared universe. Emotional meltdowns. At least one situationship imploding in real time. I just think this is more likely than an Overcompensating crossover where Owen Thiele also flexes his acting muscles.

So, if this somehow happens, I will absolutely be requesting a writing credit.

Until then, I’ll be seated on August 28, ready to watch these five make the worst possible decisions with full confidence.
