Adorable pictures show the Duchess of Cambridge, George, Charlotte and Louis all baking cakes for a Cardiff street party

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge brought their eldest children to Wales as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations on Saturday, and now it has been revealed they brought some home baked cakes with them.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte delighted the crowds who had gathered at Cardiff Castle to see them, and on Sunday their mum shared an adorable video of them baking with their younger brother Louis. See more pictures of them in Cardiff here.

The royals tweeted: “Baking cakes for the local community in Cardiff to enjoy at a Platinum Jubilee street party taking place today! We hope you like them!”

The children got stuck into their task as they whisked and added the ingredients to create the sweet treats. Union Jack bunting could be seen hanging around the kitchen, while Charlotte was busy cracking eggs and four-year-old Louis used a sieve to add in the flour to the cake mix.

It comes after another packed day on Saturday for George and Charlotte that saw them visit Cardiff before taking their seats at a huge concert watched by millions outside Buckingham Palace. Sunday is also set to be another packed day of jubilee celebrations and you can follow live updates here and see all the key timings for the big events here.

During the visit to Wales, the family met performers and crew involved in a special Platinum Jubilee Celebration Concert taking place within the grounds of the castle, including Bonnie Tyler and Owain Wynn Evans.

No details were given of which street party in Cardiff the cakes were for, but there are lots of events taking place in local communities across the city on Sunday, with a Big Jubilee Picnic is due to take place in Bute Park between noon and 5pm.

It is not the first time the children have put their culinary skills to good use.

The royal youngsters were pictured delivering bags of fresh food and pasta, which the family had made, to vulnerable people in Norfolk who were shielding during the first coronavirus lockdown.

Photos of the volunteering activity were published to mark Charlotte's fifth birthday in May 2020.

The family also appeared on Great British Bake Off judge Mary Berry's festive show A Berry Royal Christmas in 2019.

Several royal fans shared the cute video, praising the family in the process. One said: “The Cambridges are a model family. The monarchy is in good hands.”

Another said: “Just when I think the Platinum Jubilee celebrations can’t get any better, out comes this video!! Thank you so much for sharing it with us.”

Hundreds of people are expected to visit Cardiff's Bute Park on Sunday for the Big Jubilee Picnic, while similar events are set to take place all around the country including at Pembrey Country Park, Newport's Beechwood Park, Oystermouth Castle in Swansea and Welshpool's Maes-y-dre recreation ground.
