Adelaide Crows captain Rory Sloane welcomes baby boy a year after stillbirth tragedy

Adelaide Crows captain Rory Sloane and his wife Bel have welcomed a baby boy, just over a year after their first son was stillborn.

Posting on Instagram last night, the Sloanes announced Sonny Leo Sloane was born on Monday.

"Welcome to this world my little man," Rory Sloane wrote.

Their first child, Leo, was stillborn in August last year.

Last month, they launched a new nationwide stillbirth research campaign called "Lion Warrior" in honour of Leo with an emotional and heartfelt online video describing their ongoing pain.

Sloane is expected to be named the sole captain of the Crows after this year's co-captain, Taylor Walker, announced he was stepping down two weeks ago.

The next day, he announced he and his wife Ellie were expecting a baby in November.

He was among one of many footballers to congratulate the Sloanes on their new baby on Instagram.
