Addition of Joe Mixon Makes the Texans a Formidable Fantasy Offense

The NFL running back carousel continues, as the Houston Texans have acquired Joe Mixon from the Cincinnati Bengals in a surprise trade. Early reports had the Bengals releasing Mixon, but they were able to find a trade partner instead.

Mixon has long been a fantasy star, averaging more than 15 points in each of his last four seasons. He averaged nearly 16 points in his 17 games last season while also posting around four yards per rush. While he is entering his age-28 campaign, Mixon still has enough left in the tank to be a pretty solid No. 2 fantasy runner.

With Mixon now in the backfield, Houston has one heck of an offensive attack.

The veteran running back helps the value of C.J. Stroud in the form of him having a new playmaker by his side, not to mention a strong group of young wide receivers that includes Nico Collins and Tank Dell. So, the Texans have gone in one year from a virtual fantasy football wasteland to a statistical amusement park of sorts.

In fact, their offense now has a No. 1 fantasy quarterback (Stroud), a high-end No. 2 fantasy running back (Mixon), a No. 1 fantasy wideout (Collins), a No. 2 fantasy wideout (Dell) and a low-end No. 1 fantasy tight end (Dalton Schultz).
