Adamstown has become the latest suburb to join the $2 million club in Newcastle as strong market results keep coming.
It was not the only suburb to record a new highest mark in the past week. Charlestown has a new top of $2.325 million, Tighes Hill of $1.8 million and Mayfield East $1.105 million.
First National Newcastle City's George Rafty achieved the $2 million sale in Adamstown on Tuesday for a transformed four-bedroom, two-bathroom residence with a pool on a block 678 square metres in size at 22 King Street.
It was marketed with a guide of $1.75 million to $1.85 million and attracted local and out-of-town interest before being secured by Victorian buyers.
"It went to auction about three to four weeks ago and we have had interest but these people only looked at the property about a week ago," Mr Rafty said. "It was a magnificent house and it warrants getting a record."
The result came two days after Mr Rafty had set a new suburb record sale mark for Charlestown of $2.325 million with the auction sale of Miriam Gardens at 59 E K Avenue. The property featured a four-bedroom home on 5.3 acres of land that was on offer for the first time since being built in the 1950s.
The property's auction was brought forward two weeks to Sunday due to the level of demand. It launched initially with a guide of $1.6 million to $1.75 million before being quickly adjusted to $1.8 million to $1.95 million.
"We had 25 groups who rang and registered their interest on the first day," Mr Rafty said. "Then offers came straight in, so we adjusted according to the feedback.
"We had interest in and around $2 million before auction but the owners felt an obligation to let all of the market talk on Sunday, and it did with 10 registered bidders."
Bidding opened at $1.8 million with interest reported to be predominantly local buyers who "fell in love with the space and the privacy".
According to Australian Property Monitors data, the previous highest sale for Charlestown was $1.8 million, set in May last year for a four-bedroom residence on a 1594 square metre block in Highland Close.
APM data shows Charlestown's median sale price rose from $600,000 in 2019 to $660,000 last year and was $751,000 for the first 65 sales this year.

A new suburb record was also set for Tighes Hill on Wednesday with the $1.8 million sale of 11 Francis Street. Joel Soldado, of Harcourts Newcastle, listed the property with a guide of $1.7 million to $1.8 million. It overlooked Throsby Creek and featured two homes, one made out of shipping containers.
APM data shows the median sale price for Tighes Hill rose from $709,000 in 2019 to $799,500 last year and was $907,500 for the first 10 sales of this year.
A new suburb record is also believed to have been established for Mayfield East on Saturday with the $1.105 million auction sale of a three-bedroom home at 9 Henson Avenue that was marketed by One Agency Ferris Properties. There were 14 registered bidders and bidding opened at $780,000.
