Adam Peaty’s upcoming wedding to Holly Ramsay looks set to be overshadowed by family tensions, with relatives claiming they cannot afford to attend the couple’s big day.
The Olympic gold medallist, 30, and his fiancée – the daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay – are due to marry at Bath Abbey later this year, followed by a reception at the exclusive Kin House estate. But some of Peaty’s family, who live in the East Midlands, say they are on benefits and feel “shut out” from the celebrations because of the cost of travel and accommodation.
One family member said: “We were sent a save-the-date and it’s all these country houses. I’m on Universal Credit – I can’t afford that.
“Adam has been changed by money, fame and fortune. He seems to have forgotten where he came from,” they added to the MailOnline.
The claims come amid reports of a breakdown between Peaty and his mother Caroline after she was not invited to Ramsay’s hen weekend at Soho Farmhouse – attended by Tana Ramsay, her daughters and family friend Victoria Beckham. Peaty is said to have since barred his mother from the ceremony.

Caroline, 59, appeared to allude to the rift in a recent Instagram post reading: “Crying is a way your eyes speak when your mouth can’t explain how broken your heart is.”
Her sister Louise Williams later took to social media accusing Peaty of saying “the most vile things a son can say to his mother” and insisting that their family “place real value on love, friendship and loyalty”.
Sources close to Caroline allege the pair’s once-close relationship has deteriorated since Peaty began dating Ramsay, with tensions arising over lifestyle and class differences. “She’s devastated and can’t believe what’s happened,” one told the Mail. “She always supported him, even getting up at 4 am to drive him to training when he was a boy.”
Caroline, a former nursery manager, and Peaty’s father Mark, a supermarket caretaker, are understood to have made financial sacrifices to support his early career, which led him to win three Olympic golds and two silvers. Relatives now say his growing success and celebrity connections have “changed” him.
Kin House, the Georgian estate chosen for the wedding reception, costs around £32,750 to hire for a weekend and sleeps 24 guests across 12 rooms. Nearby options such as Babington House – part of the Soho House group where Ramsay celebrated her hen – start at around £300 a night.

The feud has spilled onto social media in recent days, with Williams sharing a cryptic post suggesting a “group of bullies consists of fewer bullies and more sycophants”, while supporters have rallied around Caroline in her Instagram comments.
Peaty, who met Ramsay in 2021 while appearing on Strictly Come Dancing alongside her sister Tilly, has previously spoken about his struggles with depression and alcoholism. He has credited Ramsay and his Christian faith for helping him recover after a difficult period that saw him temporarily step back from swimming.
The couple announced their engagement in September 2024, with Ramsay writing on Instagram: “Thank you for letting the little girl inside of me feel loved, seen and happier than ever. I love you and I cannot wait to be your wife.” Peaty added: “Thank you for being my rock through my lowest times.”
