Adam Forshaw lifts the lid on Patrick Bamford's 'nice arrogance'

Earlier this month Leeds United fans were starting to doubt Patrick Bamford after a four-game run without a goal before two goals again Preston restored his hero status.

One man who never doubted him was Adam Forshaw. This is the second time that Bamford and Forshaw have found themselves as teammates - they played together at Middlesbrough in 2015 and during the 2017/18 season until Forshaw transferred to Leeds United in January 2018.

“Patrick Bamford was brilliant,” he said, reflecting on the striker’s performance in the Preston victory in the official programme.

“He worked his socks off, held the ball up really well and got his rewards in the end and I am really made up for him.

“Pat has a strange confidence about him in a good way. He’s got a ‘nice arrogance’, if you like. He believes in himself and knows that if he gets chances again he will score and that is what you want in your number 9.

“He has massive character and mentality. I know him well enough that he was hurting from last Saturday (the loss against Birmingham), but he scored two brilliant goals on Tuesday so well done to him.”

Forshaw was also full of praise for fellow midfielder Pablo Hernandez who he described as ‘unbelievable’ against Millwall when he scored two goals in the 3-2 victory. He has been left as surprised as anyone that Hernandez was left out of the Championship Team of the Year.

“I am not too sure how Pablo didn’t make it, even if I am biased,” he said.

“If you are going to be up there in the league you need players to have outstanding seasons and they all have. I think there have been a few more in the team who have done really well too, so it is all positive.”
