Ad Astra trailer sees Brad Pitt journey into space to find answers

It's time for a new sci-fi epic to hit our cinema screens.

In this new film from The Lost City of Z director James Gray, Brad Pitt is an engineer about to undertake an epic mission.

Twenty years after his father Clifford (Tommy Lee Jones) departed Earth on a one-way mission to Neptune to find signs of extra-terrestrial intelligent life, Roy McBride (Pitt) sets out across the solar system in search of answers.

The trailer shows some tense scenes of McBride doing his intense job of space engineering before falling to Earth.

As he recovers, McBride finds that the world has experienced "The Surge" which leaves major power outages and fires, prompting McBride to be approached by the government to help on the new mission.

As he journeys into space, McBride finds that grave danger awaits him as he enters some hostile territory.

Liv Tyler also stars as McBride's wife, while Donald Sutherland plays a figure based on Earth who drafts in Pitt's character.

Also featuring in the film is Ruth Negga, Jamie Kennedy, John Finn, Kimberly Elise, Bobby Nish, LisaGay Hamilton, and John Ortiz.

Ad Astra was previously scheuled to be released in January this year before being delayed to May and then again to September.

Ad Astra is released in UK cinemas on September 20, 2019.
