Sixty firefighters were called to a fire at a west London tower block on Thursday night.

The blaze started in a seventh floor flat in the 13-storey building in Park Road East, Acton.

About 40 people evacuated the building before London Fire Brigade arrived.

The brigade said the fire was “very visible” as flames ripped across the balcony of the flat.

It was first called at 7.40pm and in total it received 15 calls about the blaze.

Eight fire engines were called, with the fire under control at 8.30pm.

An investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.
