Acquisition fuels growth of Derbyshire industrial oils firm Aztec

An industrial lubrications specialist based in Derbyshire has completed the acquisition of a pre-packed fuel and contract packing business as part of an ongoing expansion programme.

The deal will see Chesterfield-based Aztec Oils take on Caldo Oils’ facilities at Worsley Brow, in St Helens, along with its distribution operations in Newton Abbot, Devon and Rhuddlan, North Wales.

Following the acquisition, Aztec will oversee manufacturing from the Worsley Brow site, which will continue to produce the Hallett Steam Oils Brand under Caldo’s recently renamed Multispec Ltd.

At the same time, Wardle-based NWF Fuels will acquire the Caldo trading name and the bulk fuel business as a separate entity.

Aztec Oils exports its products all over the world, including countries in Europe (Aztec Oils)

Aztec Oils manufactures and distributes specialist lubricants. Based at Bolsover Business Park, in north-east Derbyshire, it supplies to a wide range of industrial sectors across the world.

The firm was established in 1995 by managing director Mark Lord and initially operated from a shed at the Bolsover site. Today, it employs more than 100 staff.

Speaking about the takeover of Caldo Oils, Mr Lord said: “This venture really excites us.

“It gives us a great opportunity to develop our retail packaged range, offering both Aztec branded products, while at the same time growing our private label customers.”
