Accrington Stanley verdict as Newcastle youngster joins for undisclosed fee

Accrington Stanley boss John Coleman believes new signing Rosaire Longelo will give his side a different dynamic after signing on the dotted line.

The 22-year-old has signed for Accrington for an undisclosed fee after a trial period with the League One side.

Longelo joined the Magpies in 2018 from West Ham United and made 55 appearances for Newcastle's Under-23s and contributing to 11 goals during that time, including scoring seven himself.

The left winger originally joined Stanley on trial in November on a two game basis and netted in a 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the Central League win.

Now Coleman has made the move a permanent one and is 'looking forward to working" with Longelo.

He said: "He is someone who came to our notice and he came and trained with us and played a game with the Under-23s.

"He will give us something a bit different, he will take people on, he likes to carry the ball and he will excite the fans. I am looking forward to working with him."

Longelo failed to break through into the first team at St. James' Park but is keen to show people 'what he's made of.'

Speaking after signing for Stanley, he said: "I was here on trial and I enjoyed my time here. I got to know the lads, got on with the coaches and gaffer and I am a big fan.

"I can't wait to get going now. It’s my time now and I want to show people what I am made of."
