Acclaimed zoologist, author and BBC presenter dies aged 98

  • Desmond Morris, the acclaimed zoologist, author, and television presenter, has died at the age of 98.
  • His son, Jason Morris, paid tribute to his father's "lifetime of exploration, curiosity and creativity," noting he was still writing and painting until his death.
  • Morris rose to international fame in 1967 with his groundbreaking and bestselling book, The Naked Ape.
  • He was also known for hosting the popular television programme Zoo Time and scripting 100 episodes of Life in the Animal World for BBC2.
  • Beyond his media career, Morris was a surrealist painter, a facet of his life explored in the 2017 BBC documentary The Secret Surrealist.
