Accidents wool happen! Sheep invade town after escaping from farmer's field

This was the unusual sight which greeted residents of a town in Wigan on Saturday morning. A flock of sheep invaded a street in Tyldesley after escaping from a nearby field.

Carmon Ducker posted a picture of the lost sheep on Facebook and appealed for help to reunite them with their owners . She wrote: "Little bo peep I found your sheep. SERIOUSLY sheep loose on Squires Lane anyone know where they've come from?"

But perhaps unsurprisingly it wasn't long before the social media jokers chipped in with a few sheep gags. Jimmy Higgins quipped 'Baagin booze', while Neil Gregory wrote 'Tried counting them but...' alongside two sleeping emojis.

It appears the sheep were found and returned home within a couple of hours, according to a woman who replied to the post saying she was the owner.
