Aberdeen vs Celtic Scottish Cup final temporarily halted due to pyro on pitch

The Scottish Cup final between Aberdeen and Celtic had to be temporarily halted at Hampden.

Referee Don Robertson paused proceedings after around 25 minutes in the first half due to a pyro device thrown onto the pitch.

Cameron Carter-Vickers had the ball around the halfway line when Robertson whistled to signal a stoppage to remove the device.

BBC cameras captured footage of a pyro device sparking near one of the corner flags at Hampden.

It appears the device was thrown from the stand housing Aberdeen supporters.

A steward was on the scene quickly to remove the device with the delay in proceedings limited to around one minute.

Commentator Liam McLeod said: "We are going to have to stop play because there is a pyrotechnic has landed by the corner flag. There have been delays to games here because of pyro this season.

"In one case, there was a ten-minute delay for kick-off."
