Aberdeen chief Dave Cormack has offered to stage this month’s Scottish Cup Final at Pittodrie if it means fans will be allowed to attend.
Cormack insists he has not spoken to the SFA about his offer but he went public with it on Monday following the weekend wins which will see Hibs face St Johnstone in the end of season showpiece.
The big finale is scheduled to go ahead behind closed doors at Hampden but Record Sport revealed last month that the governing authority had been considering a number of possible alternatives including Ibrox, Celtic Park and Murrayfield.
Now Cormack has thrown his hat into the ring, telling Record Sport : “We’d be happy to consider Pittodrie being the cup final venue if it helped get fans in the stadium and it was something that both teams and the SFA wanted us to do.”
With coronavirus restrictions set to be lifted from May 17, crowds of up to 500 will be permitted inside Scotland’s stadia but the government has also stated a willingness to fully consider any request for larger crowds.
Hampden, though, cannot be opened up to the public as work is already way to prepare the national stadium as a host ground for Euro 2020.
