Abdou Harroui Rangers transfer competition hots up with Sparta Rotterdam confirming significant interest

Sparta Rotterdam claim they have been inundated with calls for Rangers target Abdou Harroui.

But the Dutch club insists they have yet to receive any concrete offers for the winger.

Steven Gerrard had the Netherlands Under 21 international scouted last season and are thought to be ahead of Galatasaray in the chase for Harroui.

However, the Scottish Premiership champions could face competition from Leeds United, Brighton and Lille according to reports in the player’s homeland.

Harroui is entering the final year of his contract at Sparta who could be prepared to let him go this summer for as little as £2million despite an excellent campaign in the Eredivise.

However, the club’s technical director Henk van Stee confirmed that none of the interested parties have yet to make a bid despite fielding plenty of calls about his team’s star man.

That doesn't mean the Ibrox club won't make their move at some point, however.

He said: "There is no offer yet. In fact, so far no club has come forward for Harroui.

"Of course I do get lots of calls from intermediaries who say they are acting on behalf of clubs, but that is different from actual concrete interest."

Harrow played in all five of the Netherlands’ matches during this summer’s European Under 21 finals.

The Dutch reached the last four, where they were knocked out by arch rivals Germany.
