Aaron Wan-Bissaka is fully focused on representing England, amid interest in him from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Crystal Palace defender was born in England but is of Congolese decent and he has made a solitary appearance for them at youth level in the past.
However, more recently the 21-year-old has been playing for England’s Under-20 and Under-21 sides after a breakout season in the Premier League.
DR Congo’s interest in the right-back remains strong and they can offer him a senior call-up now, but Wan-Bissaka is set on playing for England.
“The aim is England,” the right-back told Standard Sport.
“I am happy playing with England and representing England, so that is what I am going to continue doing.
“My aim is just to keep playing and improving. By improving hopefully that does not go unnoticed and that will get me the chance, the same as it did with the team (Crystal Palace) now.”
Wan-Bissaka faces a fight to get into the England senior setup due to the fact manager Gareth Southgate has a number of options at right-back.
However, the defender has begun to establish himself in the Under-21 side and he is eyeing going all the way at the European Under-21 Championship this summer.
“Of course, that is where the focus is,” Wan-Bissaka added.
“When the season ends, it is about focusing on the Euros and aiming to win it. Then after that is about focusing on the next season.”
