Aaron Wan-Bissaka names his closest friends at Manchester United

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has let fans inside the Manchester United dressing room by revealing who his closest friends among the squad are.

Wan-Bissaka joined United from Crystal Palace in 2019, and has held the right-back spot in the two seasons since. The 23-year-old has impressed with his tackling ability and ever-improving attacking output, as well as holding off challenges for his place from players like Diogo Dalot.

Speaking about his move to United from Selhurst Park, Wan-Bissaka told the Players' Tribune that he was initially unsure if signing was the right decision for his development. However, the defender explained how he was very much aware that it was a now-or-never opportunity.

He said: "I’m not gonna lie, I was nervous about the move. Was I ready? I felt like I had unfinished business at Palace, that they could still help develop me, before I moved on. I had always planned on staying longer.

"But … it’s Manchester United . These offers don’t come around every day, you know what I’m saying? If you say no, you might never get another chance. United tend to sign players for the long haul. They might not need another right back for a long time."

Wan-Bissaka went on to reveal he almost missed out on going to Australia for pre-season immediately after signing as he lost his passport while on holiday.

But after United sorted him a new one, Wan-Bissaka said the whole squad was welcoming to their new signing, as he lifted the lid on his closest friends in the dressing room.

"When I finally did meet up with the squad. I was worried they might look down on me, you know, coming from a “smaller” team," e said.

"This is the club of Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, David de Gea. Superstars .

"But really it was the opposite. Everyone was so nice and welcoming, making sure I was O.K.

"I struck up a bond with guys like Axel Tuanzebe, he’s from the Congo too and he helped me a lot at the beginning. So did players like Marcus, Mason [Greenwood] and Brandon [Williams]. There’s a good group of boys around my age. We’re close. There’s also plenty of French speakers in the dressing room. I just need to learn Spanish now!"
