Aaron Rodgers TD pass in KC ranks as top play from NFL’s first half of 2019

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers can claim ownership of the NFL’s top play through the first half of the 2019 season, at least according to the league’s official Twitter account.

The NFL posted its list of the top 25 plays of the season’s first eight weeks on Wednesday, and Rodgers’ incredible 3-yard touchdown pass to running back Jamaal Williams against the Kansas City Chiefs came in at No. 1.

Some of the list’s rankings can be debated. For instance, how does Russell Wilson’s insane touchdown pass to Tyler Lockett land at No. 11? How does Gardner Minshew’s weaving scramble and touchdown pass not crack the top 10?

Rodgers’ impossible throw on Sunday night certainly belongs at or near the top.

This angle only magnifies the impressiveness of the play:

Rodgers essentially flipped a pass 25 yards with perfect accuracy and with two defenders bearing down on him, converting third down and giving the Packers a late lead in the second half of a 31-24 win over the Chiefs. Williams kept the play alive and made a terrific catch in the corner of the end zone for the score.

No other play from the Packers cracked the list.
