SEATTLE _ You may want to get to Yankee Stadium early when they get back to New York.
Aaron Judge, who continued to take batting practice in the cage Sunday, may progress to regular BP on the field this week.
"I think that's possible, that he will get out on the field one of those days," Boone said of the slugger progressing from cage work to normal team on-field batting practice. "I gotta look at the schedule with (team trainer) and him, but I think that's the next progression. He's hit in the cage, think there is a chance might get to the field in Minnesota, but I've gotta look."
That means that there is a good chance Judge could be on the field hitting before the game when the Yanks return home Friday to host the Blue Jays.
More importantly, it also is another step forward in this rehab from a fractured right wrist. Judge, who was initially injured when he was hit by a pitch on July 26, is building momentum in his recovery.
"He'll be back in the cage today hitting," Boone said. "He came out of yesterday really strong so, again the fact that he continues to bounce back as we bump up the workload has been really encouraging. He has a little extra pep in his step, think he's excited about how he's really starting to feel it."
Judge would need to see live pitching before he could realistically be back in the Yankees lineup. They could do that through a simulated game in New York or Tampa. With their Triple-A club advancing in the playoffs, however, they do still have the option of sending Judge on a minor league rehab assignment.
