AAP workers detained for anti-PM Narendra Modi posters in Haryana's Yamunanagar

YAMUNANAGAR: The Haryana police detained several leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for allegedly placing posters against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Yamunanagar on Sunday.

As per the information, a group of AAP leaders and workers had gathered in Yamunanagar, to place posters that read, "Modi Hatao Desh Bachao" (remove Modi save the country).

AAP's press release said Chitra Sarwara, Yogeshwar Sharma, Adarsh Pal Singh, Laxman Vinayak, Lalit Tyagi, and other party leaders were detained by the police.

Chitra Sarwara said, "AAP launched a campaign to place posters in Yamunanagar. As soon as the party workers placed the posters, the police personnel started to remove them. Many AAP party workers were detained by police including me. The freedom of expression of the general public is being suppressed and an emergency-like situation has been created in the country."

Yamunanagar City police station house officer (SHO) inspector Kamaljit Singh said that 16 persons were detained for placing (anti-PM Modi) posters, who were produced before Jagadhri sub-divisional magistrate, who released them.
