Pictures show a wall of fire across a major motorway after a lorry filled with chocolate exploded into flames.
The fireball erupted after the lorry filled with the sweet treat burst into flames and sparked a major blaze.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on the A556 towards the M6 in Cheshire and firefighters are working at pace to get the blaze under control.
All lanes were closed on the busy road, reports the Liverpool Echo , and traffic is being disrupted.
As of 9.37pm it has since reopened northbound but firefighters are still tackling the flames. North West Motorway Police warned of "significant delays" until the blaze is brought under control.
The lorry was driving near the M56 at Knutsford and was "laden with chocolate", according to a spokesman for the North West Motorway Police.
Police said the road was blocked just before the motorway.
Thankfully the driver appears to be uninjured.
A spokesperson said on Twitter : "@HIGHWAYSNWWEST and police currently dealing with an HGV fire on the A556 near to the M56 towards the M6.
"All lanes blocked, driver safe and well, for info HGV was laden with chocolate."
A short time later they tweeted a dramatic picture of the blaze and said: "Further update, Cheshire fire on scene trying to get blaze under control.
"Will keep you updated when lanes are to be re-opened."
A spokesperson for Highways England also said: "#A556 southbound at #Mere (#A50 #Mere #OverTabley #TattonPark) is currently CLOSED due to a fire.
"Traffic Officers @CheshireRCU @NWmwaypolice & @CheshireFire are en-route.
"Please be aware that this incident is causing significant delays in both directions.
"Please plan ahead and consider alternative routes and allow plenty of extra time for your journey."
