A52 near Radcliffe to be closed for four weeks of overnight repair work

Motorists using the A52 in Nottingham are to benefit from smoother journeys thanks to an overnight repair scheme worth £1.5m.

The four-week programme of repairs starts on the evening of Monday February 21 between Lees Barn Road and Golf Road.

Once the work is complete, motorists will be able to drive along a new quieter road surface. There will also be new road markings and road studs.

The repair scheme will also include repairs to wiring underneath the road used to operate traffic signals.

National Highways Project Manager, Jon Pumfrey said: “This vital work is an essential part of keeping the road safe for the tens of thousands of vehicles that use it every day.

“Safety is always our top priority. We need to act now before the road surface deteriorates further. We know that roadworks aren’t always popular but by doing this work, we’re reducing the risk of larger repairs in the future which would ultimately lead to even greater disruption for drivers.

“By working overnight, we can limit disruption during the day and at weekends when the road is much busier.”

During the works, to ensure the safety of the workforce and motorists, the A52 between Lees Barn Road and Golf Road will be closed from Monday to Friday, between 8pm to 6am.

The road closure will incorporate the Cropwell Road A52 junction, but National Highways will try to keep this junction open as much as possible, allowing access between Radcliffe on Trent and the A46.

However, there will be several nights where this junction will need to also be closed for the safety of the team and the public. The dates (subject to change with weather) are:

  • Friday 25th February
  • Tuesday 1st March
  • Monday 7th March to Friday 11th March
