A1 Dunbar accident: Potatoes cover the motorway as tractor overturns

Potatoes have been seen covering a section of the A1 this morning after a tractor and it's trailer overturned.

The incident has been reported to have occurred at around. 7.45am on Wednesday morning near Dunbar.

There are now expected traffic delays on the A1 heading both northbound and southbound, with the tractor lying on the road at the Thistly Cross Roundabout.

Motorists have been advised to drive with caution surrounding the scene due to both wet conditions and the amount of loose potatoes lying on the road.

Drivers may also wish to avoid the Thistly Cross Roundabout due to lane closures and possible delays.

Police Scotland and the Trunk Road Incident Support Service (TRISS) are currently arriving at the scene.

It has not yet been confirmed if there has been any injuries or casualties from the incident.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police were called to reports of a one vehicle crash involving a tractor around 7.40am on Wednesday, 16 September on the A1 near Dunglas Bridge in Dunbar.

"The road is currently closed southbound at the Thistleycross roundabout."
