A1 crash: Road closed in both directions following serious smash in East Lothian

The East Lothian A1 near Dunglass remains closed in both directions this afternoon following a serious smash that occurred at around 10.30am today (16 November).

Emergency services have raced to the scene where pictures appear to show an accident between a heavy goods vehicle and a tractor near Cockburnspath.

The police and the fire service remain at the incident and an ambulance helicopter has been sent to the collision to deal with casualties.

A Traffic Scotland Tweet reads: " #A1 near Dunglass now CLOSED

"Ambulance helicopter and police to attend.

"Fire service on the scene.

"Update 11:40 #A1 near Dunglass remains CLOSED both ways Fire service on scene @SETrunkRoads @ELCouncil."

A spokesperson from Police Scotland said: “Emergency services are in attendance following a report of a crash on the A1 near Cockburnspath."
