A (work) experience to remember – did you shine like Tom Wagg?

When Tom Wagg was 15, on work experience with an astrophysics professor at Keele University, he spotted a dip in the light from a star and realised it could be caused by a planet in front of it.

Two years later, Wagg got a call confirming his discovery was a new gas planet similar to Jupiter, 1,000 light years from Earth.

Few of us can claim to have achieved anything as momentous during hours spent filing folders, making tea or stacking shelves at the local supermarket. But sometimes even the most unremarkable job placement throws up bizarre and memorable incidents. Share yours in the thread below.
