A Wishaw student has been recognised for his outstanding academic achievements

A student from Wishaw has been recognised for his outstanding academic achievements while working towards a diploma.

Dylan Duff, 19, a student at City of Glasgow College was awarded Principal’s Prize for Outstanding Academic Achievement.

The HNC Social Services graduate and student association president received the prestigious award in recognition of his achievements during the course of his studies.

The former Uddingston Grammar school pupil was one of more than 3,300 successful students, across four faculties, who attended the college’s annual winter graduation ceremonies.

Dylan said: “I was delighted to win the Principal’s Prize for Outstanding Academic Achievement.

“Winning the award reinforced to me just how much I’ve achieved at City of Glasgow College.

“I’ve loved my time here and the support I’ve received from the friends I’ve made and from my lecturers has been wonderful.

“I am keen to run for another year as Students’ Association President to champion the voices of City students and then move on to eventually become a children and families social worker.”

The annual celebration sees graduates officially pick up their certificates, diplomas and degrees.

Guests of Honour this year included Dawn Childs, UK Change Director for the National Grid; Liz Cameron, Director and Chief Executive of the Scottish Chamber of Commerce; and Stuart Patrick, Chief Executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce.

College Principal and Chief Executive, Paul Little, said: “Dylan should be very proud of achieving one of our top prizes which are awarded annually to those students who have excelled throughout their time with us.”
