Karakoro Art Studio in the Tono district of Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, is once again holding a colorful umbrella exhibit called Enishizuku Umbrella Sky. The Matsue Travel Association began the exhibit in 2018, as a touristic highlight in the rainy season when visitor traffic to the studio falls. This year, 216 umbrellas comprising seven colors were used to mimic a rainbow.
Visitors to the exhibit on Monday looked up and took photos as rain gently fell.
"I think the umbrella arrangement looks so pretty," said a 20-year-old woman who is self-employed and lives in Kamo in Unnan, Shimane Prefecture. She said she came across the exhibit by chance with a friend.

The colors of the umbrellas "look beautiful with the pink posts and the fountain," she added.
The exhibit typically runs in June and July, but the coronavirus forced the studio to move it back a month. The exhibit will run until August.
"I hope everyone who visits can enjoy how the light of the summer sun filtering through the umbrellas changes color depending on where you are taking your photos from," said an official of the travel association.
