Bodo, the mushroom-hunting pudelpointer, earned Sean Porter MOTW honors.
“He loves a good hike in the woods,” Porter messaged.
That’s something a little different. The American Kennel Club describes pudelpointers, a cross between a poodle and a pointer, as “a calm, self-controlled, versatile gun dog with a distinct hunting instinct.”
That’s a dog that deserves the full-length view of the photo. (For online purposes, the lead photo in posts must be a 4 x 3 horizonal one, then later photos may go other sizes.)

Normally, Mushroom of the Week, the celebration of mushrooms around Chicago outdoors, runs as apt in the special two-page outdoors section in the Sun-Times Sports on Saturday. But so many interesting submissions have been coming this fall that I added a special Wednesday edition, at least for this week or so.
