A passenger needed reconstructive surgery after his jaw was broken on a Metrolink tram

A man needed reconstructive surgery after his jaw was broken during an attack on a tram.

The 45-year-old victim was punched to the face and knocked unconscious during the violent assault on a Metrolink tram which was travelling between Bury and Radcliffe earlier this year.

He suffered a fractured jaw and required reconstructive surgery following the attack.

Police working on the case have now issued a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the assault - which happened between 10.30pm and 10.45pm on Saturday March 30.

Anyone with any information about the incident should call police on 0161 856 8181, quoting reference 2575 of 01/04/2019.

Information can also be passed on anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
