A new wine bar and all day eatery is opening in the city centre

A new independent wine bar is set to open at Kampus neighbourhood in the city centre.

Beeswing, named after crust formed on old wines, which resembles a bee's wing, will serve wine by the glass, carafe and bottle as well as offer small seasonal plates.

The bar, by the minds behind Vin-Yard and Pinchos tapas, will offer old favourites as well as some lesser-known wines.

There will also be a wine shop if you wish to take a bottle or two home.

Open from breakfast until late, the bar will be somewhere to visit for a morning coffee, drinks with friends, or a place for a light dinner.

Set above Nell’s New York Pizza and Bar, Beeswing will offer both indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the Kampus garden.

It is the latest independent to open at Kampus neighbourhood, which is set between Canal Street, Chorlton Street and Aytoun Street.

The minds behind Beeswing, Anna Tutton, founder of wine bar Vin-yard (previously at Hatch), and Joe Maddock, Pinchos tapas bar, hope the bar will be a modern take on traditional wine bars, with emphasis on local produce and a relaxed vibe.

Wine expert Anna Tutton, said: “We want Beeswing to be a real neighbourhood bar, a warm and inviting place where you can come and enjoy a glass (or two) of wine and an hour turns into several without you noticing.

“We’ll be serving simple but delicious food, all day long, with an ever changing menu using the best fresh local produce.

“Being alongside like-minded independent businesses in the amazing surroundings of the garden neighbourhood is what attracted us to Kampus and we can’t wait to be part of the community.”

The wine bar will join a host of new independent businesses set around Kampus gardens, including Pollen Bakery, in the new neighbourhood, brought together by CAPITAL&CENTRIC.

Adam Higgins, co-founder at CAPITAL&CENTRIC said: “This isn’t going to be some stuffy wine bar with intimidating wine lists.

“In true Kampus style it’ll have a super relaxed vibe offering something a bit different to what you get elsewhere.

“It’ll also have Kampus’ very own wine shop where residents can come and grab a bottle on their doorstep.

“With Nell’s pizza and bar already open, Pollen and General Stores coming early next year and now Beeswing, we’ve already got a really nice mix of indie businesses in the Kampus neighbourhood – and we’ve lots more to come!”

Beeswing is set to open in March 2022.
