'A low-scoring affair' - How the pundits are predicting Manchester United vs Chelsea

It has been a summer of change for Chelsea after Maurizio Sarri departed for Juventus and Frank Lampard took over at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues finished third last season and Lampard will be hard pressed to improve upon that but there is plenty to be excited about at the club.

Despite the transfer ban, Chelsea have an array of youngsters who should take a step forward this term.

But what about the opening fixture of the campaign?

Chelsea face Manchester United at Old Trafford as they aim to get the new campaign started in the right fashion.

It's a mouthwatering fixture for both sides, with United and the Blues having drawn both league fixtures last term, with the Red Devils winning the FA Cup fifth round tie in February at Stamford Bridge.

But who will open the new season in the right manner on Sunday? Prominent pundits Michael Owen, Mark Lawrenson and Charlie Nicholas have been offering up their verdicts on the fixture at Old Trafford and they don't all agree with each other.

Liverpool legend Owen and Lawrenson both believe the match will end up in a 1-1 draw but Nicholas is backing the Red Devils to pull off an impressive 1-0 victory at home.

"Chelsea will want to go to Old Trafford and walk away with something, with Frank Lampard getting through his first assignment without a defeat to his name," Nicholas told Sky Sports.

"Solskjaer wants the crowd to believe they are better.

"I don't think United are, so I am going to go for a low-scoring affair.

"I am looking for Marcus Rashford to be a proper number nine and I see him being the match-winner on the day."
