A Little Miss Sunshine musical is coming to London

A musical of Academy Award-winning film Little Miss Sunshine is making its European premiere in London next year.

Fresh from a hit Off-Broadway run, the musical is driving into the Arcola Theatre for a limited seven week season from March 21.

Little Miss Sunshine is based on Michael Ardnt’s film about young Olive Hoover and her family, who pile into their rickety, yellow VW campervan so that Olive can enter a beauty pageant – 800 miles across the country.

Created by Tony Award-winning James Lapine and William Finn, the show is directed by the Arcola’s artistic directed Mehmet Ergen. The cast has yet to be announced.

Ergen said: “In uncertain times, we all need a little bit of sunshine. This is the story of a family coming together to celebrate their differences – and that speaks to the heart of Arcola Theatre’s ethos.”

The 2006 film starred Abigail Breslin, Toni Collette, Greg Kinnear, Steve Carell, Alan Arkin and Paul Dano as the dysfunctional family.

Tickets go on sale on November 5 at arcolatheatre.com
