A-lister Idris Elba full of praise for Geordie ravers after DJ set at Newcastle club

Idris Elba had plenty of praise for the 'Geordie rave3rs' after hew performed a DJ set in Newcastle on Saturday night.

The Luther icon, who is still one of the hottest tips to be the next James Bond, headed to Tyneside to take to the decks at nightspot The Lofts, the city centre venue that used to be Eden and, before that, Tiger Tiger. Idris was the main attraction at the weekly Bliss night, for one of the club's biggest bookings since its grand opening.

Idris, who has also starred in films like Mandela: Walk to Freedom and Suicide Squad and TV shows like The Wire, pulled in quite a crowd and, taking to his Insta story to remark 'what a rave,' as he praised those who were there for creating a great atmosphere and also mentioning it had been his first club gig in a while. The love Idris had for Newcastle was reciprocated on social media.

One person who was there tweeted: "Jus watched @idriselba n Newcastle. Absolutely smashed it! Didn't no he was that sick of a DJ. Need to see him again!" A second posted: " @idriselba you were amazing at Newcastle last night."

The Lofts are clearly still on a high from the weekend too as they took to Facebook on Monday to write: "We certainly won’t be forgetting Bliss on Saturday with Idris Elba for a long, long time... more on that shortly." Other big names to have appeared on The Lofts' decks so far include Joel Corry, Hannah Wants and Pete Tong.

Next up for Bliss at The Lofts this Saturday is Ferreck Dawn, who has had music released on big name labels like Defected, Repopulate Mars, Sink Or Swim and Sweat it out.
