A key lapse in concentration costs Nottingham Forest rare victory at Millwall

It was almost a remarkable turnaround from Sabri Lamouchi’s Nottingham Forest at Millwall.

Trailing at half-time to a Shaun Williams header 15 minutes in, Forest were woeful in the first period and fortunate to go in only a goal down.

A tactical tweak at the break and the introduction of Lewis Grabban and Joe Lolley shortly thereafter changed the game in the Reds’ favour, with Grabban's first strike scoring 55 seconds after his introduction having been subjected to boos from the home supporters, before then netting what looked to be the winner in the 88th minute.

Leading 2-1 going into five minutes of added time, Gary Rowett’s Millwall popped up with an equaliser to salvage a dramatic 2-2 draw courtesy of another substitute, Aiden O’Brien, who slammed home following a save from Brice Samba.

Given the first half display, the majority of the 1,200 travelling supporters at The Den would probably have taken a point, and so it proved in the end.

After the game, Nottinghamshire Live’s Sarah Clapson and Barry Cooper reflected on a hard-earned point away from the City Ground, ahead of two City Ground dates with Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday.
