A.J. Green, Andrew Whitworth dominate Bengals’ PFF grading since 2006

When it comes to the Cincinnati Bengals, the list of names that have graded out the highest since 2006 at Pro Football Focus isn’t too shocking.

Thinking back that far, the roster’s best outright players ranked from a franchise left tackle like Andrew Whitworth to the ascendant superstar that is A.J. Green.

There are some surprises on such a list — especially on the defensive side of the ball. Names like Kevin Kaesviharn and Dhani Jones, for example, pop up on a list otherwise dominated by Geno Atkins.

But overall? The expected names dominate the scene on some close looks provided by Pro Football Focus:

The Bengals have done pretty well for themselves at the very top of the roster, keeping Green and Atkins around for the long term. The same can’t be said for Whitworth, of course, but the front office has since admitted the mistake with the trade for Cordy Glenn and drafting of Jonah Williams.

Looking ahead, Green and Atkins figure to keep popping up on these lists, especially with Atkins on a new deal and Green likely to get an extension.

But as Tyler Boyd showed in 2018, there is a new wave of potential stars on the roster ready to fight it out, too.
