A huge pop-up wine bar has opened in Bristol city centre

There are plenty of options when it comes to grabbing a drink in the city centre, but as of yesterday (May 27) there's one more which is likely to prove very popular.

A pop-up wine bar has opened in the heart of Broadmead headed up by some seriously clued-up vino connoisseurs, selling the finest exports from the southern French region.

Bar Bordeaux, run by the Bordeaux wine Bureau (CIVB), is a paradise for lovers of the drink with dry and aromatic white wines, fruity rosés, sparkling Crémants and soft, fruit-forward reds on offer.

In total 20 different wines from a variety of Bordeaux appellations are available to taste over the course of the pop-up, which runs until June 8, with eight fixed for the duration and six guest wines each week.

The temporary bar, which has room for around 150 people, aims to give people plenty of opportunity to discover the diversity that Bordeaux wines can offer and learn about one of the region's finest exports.

Wines will be available to purchase by the glass (£5/£6) or by the bottle (£25/30) or people can opt for a full tasting experience with a wine flight, priced at £7 for three 75ml glasses.

People can also attend one of the five 30 minute speed-tastings which will take place each day from 4.15pm through to 7.15pm.

Hosted by resident Bordeaux experts, these fun and informative sessions will provide a whistle-stop tour of Bordeaux during which visitors will taste five wines, including a dry white, a rosé, a Crémant and two contrasting reds.

Speed-tastings cost £10 and can be booked in advance through Eventbrite .

Bar Bordeaux has partnered with local street food vendors to offer delicious food to enjoy with the wine, ideal if you’re feeling a bit peckish.

The bar is located at The Podium slap bang in the middle of Broadmead, outside the Metro Bank.
