A Factory-Built Kawasaki ZX-10R Race Bike Can Now Be Yours, For the Right Price

There’s a reason people never stop talking about liter bikes. Even riders who swear they’ll never touch a thousand still end up daydreaming about them at some point. These machines have shaped sport riding for decades. They set the pace for technology, styling, and performance, and they’ve always held that spot as the bikes everyone looks up to. You don’t need to own one to get the appeal. You just need to know they exist.

Kawasaki has been a huge part of that story. In the US, the Ninja name is basically woven into motorcycle culture. A lot of riders grew up seeing Ninjas in magazines, posters, or YouTube clips and figured that one day they’d ride something like that. Kawasaki kept that energy going by building serious machines in Japan that carried the same attitude as the early models that made the brand legendary among American riders.

Now Kawasaki is doing something you don’t see very often, it's giving regular riders the chance to buy a race-only ZX-10R. Not a converted streetbike. Not a tired ex-racebike. A brand-new, factory-built track weapon that skips all the street equipment and goes straight to the paddock. That alone is the headline because this kind of access is usually reserved for the world's top racers.

The single thing that really makes this stand out is how pure the idea is. The ZX-10R Race Edition doesn’t pretend to be road-friendly. It doesn’t care about commuting or license plates. It exists for riders who want an honest-to-goodness track toy and nothing else. The order window is short and Kawasaki will stop taking reservations as soon as they hit the production cap. If you secure a slot, deliveries are expected to start in early March 2026.

Pricing is set at 2,090,000 yen, which works out to around $13,400 USD. Considering what a full race build normally costs, that number is extremely tempting for anyone who’s been wanting a fresh liter-class track bike that hasn’t been thrashed by someone else.

Under the fairings is the familiar liquid-cooled inline four that gives the ZX-10R its signature hit. It revs hard at the top and reacts instantly when you open the throttle. The electronics package includes traction control, launch control, an electronic throttle valve, and a quickshifter that handles both upshifts and downshifts. The full-color TFT display also connects to your phone, which actually makes life easier when you’re working with data or reviewing your setup between sessions.

The suspension is set up for serious pace. Showa BFF forks handle the front, a BFRC lite shock handles the rear, and an Ohlins steering damper keeps the bike settled when you’re running triple-digit speeds. Kawasaki also tweaked the chassis and suspension to account for the extra front load created by the new winglets.

Those winglets sit on a redesigned front cowl and aren’t just for show. They create real downforce that helps the front tire dig in during fast corner entries and transitions. Kawasaki hasn’t shared official photos of the race-only version yet, but if you’ve seen the latest ZX-10R, you already know the general face and aggressive attitude it carries.

The bike rolls out on Bridgestone Battlax Racing Street RS12 tires. They’re technically street legal, but let’s be honest, nobody is buying this machine to sit in traffic. These tires fit the personality of the bike and help it perform right out of the crate.

Since the ZX-10R Race Edition is a pure track model, it cannot be registered for road use. Kawasaki will not provide plate documents and it comes without ABS or warranty coverage. That said, it follows US California specification, which helps it slot into various racing categories with strict equipment requirements, pretty much right out of the box.
