A cutting edge art installation is searching for 1,440 Glaswegians to take part

Two artists are calling on Glaswegians to take part in a new, cutting edge installation.

Gillian Jane Lees and Adam York Gregory are currently creating a new piece of work called Taking The Time and are looking for the help of 1,440 people who consider themselves from or of Glasgow to bring it to life.

They are asking Glaswegians to answer the question 'what time in the day (or night) holds special significance to you and why?'

Gap in life expectancy across Renfrewshire communities is 'staggering'

Over the course of 24 hours, Gillian and Adam will set 1440 wrist watch alarms, one for each of the significant times contributed by members of the public, to create a sonic sculpture that moves between silence and chorus to the rhythms of Glasgow and its residents.

Gillian said: "Your first reaction might be that it's the time you set your alarm for, the time you get up most mornings, but maybe there are other times too...

"Does a particular time of the day or night remind you of someone, or something? Does it remind you of being somewhere specific, in Glasgow or somewhere else? Is there a time in the day/night that you look forward to... or not?

"We would like you to consider your relationship with time, and what it means to you specifically. There are no wrong answers!"

This stunning four-bedroom house is the perfect Instagram-friendly property

Following the performance-installation, a book containing each of the times and the reasons for their significance will be officially donated to the city and housed in The Mitchell Library Special Collections as a legacy of the project.

Taking The Time will be entered in to the largest of their Special Collections - The Glasgow Collection.

To take part in the exhibition, visit the website Taking the Time and drop in your time and reason before the 10th May.
