99 Nights in the Forest Christmas Update Guide

The Christmas Update in 99 Nights in the Forest had added a festive survival twist by giving you the responsibility of rescuing Elves. You can find Santa’s elves scattered across the forest, hunted by the Deer, and trapped in dangerous situations, and it’s up to you to save them. By rescuing elves, you earn Candy Canes, a limited-time currency used to unlock exclusive items, cosmetics, and many more rewards. So, to help you make the most out of this event, here's a complete guide for the Christmas Update Part one in 99 Nights in the Forest.

How to Find and Rescue Elves in 99 Nights in the Forest

Santa’s elves spawn in hidden locations across the forest, and they do not appear clearly marked on the map. You need to explore carefully, checking trees, frozen lakes, snowy patches, and special tracks while avoiding cultists and hostile entities.

Each elf is trapped differently and requires a specific tool to rescue them. Once you interact with an elf using the correct item, they are freed and immediately reward you with a Christmas Present. Opening this box grants Candy Canes along with bonus survival items like bandages, weapons, or food.

All Rescue Items and How to Get Them

All rescue tools are purchased from the Santa Sack, which is located near your campfire. These items cost Mossy Coins, a currency found throughout the forest by collecting Coin Stacks.

Item Cost (Mossy Coins) How to Use
Ladder 15 Rescue elves stuck in trees or elevated areas
Ice Skates 20 Help elves trapped on frozen lakes or icy terrain
Shovel 20 Dig out the elves buried under the snow
Sled 25 TBA

You can get Mossy Coins inside buildings, crashed structures, caves, and mines, and they also drop from cultists. If you farm these coins early, it makes rescuing elves much easier later in the run.

How to Get Candy Canes in 99 Nights in the Forest

You can only get Candy Canes by helping Santa’s elves. Each rescued elf gives you a Christmas Present Box, and every box contains a random amount of Candy Canes, sometimes along with additional loot.

There is no other reliable way to farm Candy Canes, so exploration is the core progression loop during the Christmas Update. Equipping strong classes and clearing enemies quickly lets you search the forest more safely and rescue more elves per run.
