A 93-year-old woman who crashed her car into a stationary tractor has now died.
She was driving with her 82-year-old brother when the accident occurred at Crofthead Holiday Park.
The pair were originally taken to Ayr Hospital for overnight observations.
But the elderly driver died in hospital three days later.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police can confirm that a 93-year-old woman died in hospital a few days after she was involved in a road traffic collision at a holiday park in Ayr.
“Emergency services were called to Crofthead Caravan Park on Tuesday July 2 after a car collided with a JCB.
“A man aged 82 and a woman aged 93 were taken to Ayr Hospital to be treated for their injuries.
“The 93-year-old woman died in hospital on Friday July 5.”
Both had been staying at the park but as they set off to head back to their home in Bishopbriggs the elderly driver’s foot slipped.
Instead of hitting the brake she stepped on the accelerator and smashed into the side of a parked tractor.
It had been hoped that the injuries she had suffered were minor and wouldn’t prove to be fatal.
But she died in hospital three days later.
