While Valentine’s Day isn’t technically until Monday, you can get a head start on your sweet celebrations this weekend with one (or two or three) of the many special desserts being offered throughout New York City. From a massive chocolate soufflé to chocolate-covered strawberry crullers, here are some desserts that are definitely worth trying.

Giant Chocolate Soufflé at Max Brenner

Decadence reaches new heights with Max Brenner’s latest chocolate innovation: the giant chocolate soufflé. Weighing in at more than two pounds, the soufflé is filled with molten chocolate and is a sight to behold. It’s available at Max Brenner’s Union Square flagship through February 14.

Strawberries N’ Cream Cookie at Chip City

If cookies are the way to your Valentine’s heart, look no further than these ooey gooey, massive cookies from Chip City. The Strawberries N’ Cream cookie has a vanilla and strawberry swirled dough and a cream cheese icing. It’s available at all Chip City locations today through Monday, February 14.

Andrea Prunella, the executive pastry chef at Chip City, is inspired by nostalgic flavors and experiences. The combination of berries and cream is something she loved as a kid, and she wanted to translate those flavors into a delicious cookie to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Elegant and sweet, Pâtisserie Chanson’s special Valentine’s Day dessert features a strawberry sponge, Tahitian vanilla mousse and Amarena black cherries. It’s on the menu through February 16 and available to both dine-in and takeout customers from their Flatiron and Tribeca locations.

Churro Ice Cream Sundae at La Churreria

La Churreria’s version of an ice cream sundae is topped with a heart-shaped churro, which is a sweet touch. They’re serving up churro ice cream sundaes all month long. They are made with churro bites, strawberry sauce, custard cream, fresh strawberries, ice cream and whipped cream.

The Upper East Side bakery has many festive desserts on offer for Valentine’s Day, from a rich, fudgy heart cake to heart-shaped Linzer tarts. The one I’m most excited about is a Valentine’s Day twist on a New York City classic—the black and white cookie—which just so happens to be this bakery’s most popular offering. They’ve been making them since 1946, so you know the recipe is tried and true.

Rose Water Crème Brûlée at ilili NYC

This rosy crème brûlée is lovely and complex and includes three different strawberry elements: strawberry consommé, sable and sorbet. It’s available starting tomorrow, through February 14.

“I am Greek, and similar to the Lebanese, we use rose water in desserts,” executive chef Chris Christou said. “It offers a fragrant element to the crème brûlée besides vanilla. It’s served with strawberries three ways, and who doesn’t love strawberries on the day of love?”

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cruller at Daily Provisions

The crullers at Daily Provisions are in a league of their own—warm, delicate, deliciously decadent—and if I still lived in New York I’d be making regular visits to try their limited time flavors. Head over to one of their locations on Valentine’s Day to try this cruller filled with a dark chocolate custard and dipped in strawberry glaze. Each one is topped with a fresh strawberry dipped in Vesta chocolate and cocoa nibs.

Red Velvet CakeShake at Black Tap

Go big this Valentine’s Day by splitting this red velvet cake batter shake topped with a slice of red velvet cake at Black Tap’s Midtown or SoHo location. It’s only available during Valentine’s Day weekend, February 12 to 14.

“Here at Black Tap, we’re all about taking your known and loved classic and adding our modern chef spin to it,” Courtney Wright, creative director at Black Tap, said. “We made sure to stay true to red velvet cake while recreating it into an ice cream with ingredients like vanilla syrup to really bring out the red velvet flavor!”
