Thursday marked two months since Typhoon No. 19 made landfall, devastating a broad swathe of eastern Japan and killing 94 people, with four still missing.

According to The Yomiuri Shimbun's tally, 746 people are still living in evacuation centers in six prefectures including Fukushima and Miyagi, as of Wednesday. Children are forced to use cardboard boxes as tables to study in partitioned spaces of a gym in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture.

According to the Cabinet Office, 23,518 houses remain destroyed as of Dec. 2, while 24,490 are partially damaged and 43,209 have flood damage, due to both Typhoon No. 19 and the subsequent Typhoon No. 21, which brought heavy rain.
