71 Trapped In Taiwan Mines After Powerful Earthquake Strikes

A total of 71 individuals are currently trapped in two mines located in Hualien County, Taiwan, following a powerful earthquake that struck the island on Wednesday. The national fire agency of Taiwan has reported that most of the trapped miners, numbering 64, are located in the Heping mine, while the remaining seven individuals are stuck in the Zhonghe mine.

The earthquake, which measured 7.4 magnitude on the Richter scale, has resulted in a tragic loss of life, with at least nine individuals confirmed dead. Additionally, over 900 people have sustained injuries as a result of the seismic event.

The rescue efforts are currently underway to reach and evacuate the trapped individuals from the mines. The situation remains critical as emergency responders work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of those affected by the earthquake.

Authorities are coordinating a multi-agency response to address the aftermath of the earthquake and provide necessary support to the affected communities. The priority at this time is to rescue the trapped miners and provide medical assistance to those injured in the disaster.
