A man says that his wife struggles to order mashed potatoes at restaurants nearly two years after she found a razor blade in her food at a Tulsa, Oklahoma, Longhorn Steakhouse. Viewers debate whether he should sue.
In a video with over 52,000 views, TikToker shotSCAR (@shotscar_is_back) shows a table full of food at Longhorn Steakhouse. He pans over to his wife’s plate. Her folk is wedged into a metal object.
Was there a razor in her mashed potatoes?
He zooms in on the object, revealing a two-inch-long, sharp piece of metal that resembles a razor blade.
In the next clip, a manager stands outside and apologizes. He hands them his business card along with two $25 gift cards.
“He said if there’s anything with food poisoning or anything like that, they would 100% take care of it,” he says.
The TikToker shares that he originally posted the TikTok two years earlier, but the situation still hadn’t fully been resolved.
“We still deal with that to this day. My wife still struggles to buy mashed potatoes at restaurants to this day because of that incident,” he shares.
He also laments that the couple used to frequent Longhorn Steakhouse but hasn’t been able to comfortably return to the restaurant.
How do viewers think he should respond to Longhorn Steakhouse?
In the comments, viewers criticize how little was offered to the couple after they found the razor.
“$50 gift cards?!? Bro, I’m looking for $10,000,000.00 cash,” one writes.
“You settled for 50 bucks,” another says.
“$50…$50… like.. their food is so expensive that was an insult,” a third adds.
Some suggest that he should sue Longhorn Steakhouse even two years after the incident.
“Consult an attorney and see if you have a case. Do it!” a viewer suggests.
“That’s a lawsuit ?!? $250million dollars,” another says.
However, others suggest they may not have a case. According to an article by Super Lawyers, restaurant customers may be able to sue if they find a foreign object in their food. But they may only have a strong case if they were injured due to ingesting it.
“Why are so many people commenting that you should sue them? You have to have damages or injury to sue and there’s neither in this case. Be scared to death to eat at a longhorn, but other than that, there’s nothing you can sue for,” one says.
“Ask any chef what’s the chances of that size of a box cutter razor in your plate of mash potatoes. then let your logical mind decide if it could be accidental or done with malicious intent by someone,” another writes.
“For those saying get a lawyer and sue em, there is no case here. I worked at restaurants for over 15 years! Its not negligence, or unsanitary practices, or anything like that. Its just accident do happen!” a third suggests.
