5 waiver wire targets in fantasy football for week 3

Whether you’re 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2, your fantasy football season is not over. It is not time to exaggerate or trade away your entire team, but perhaps adding somebody under the radar could help you in the coming weeks.

With injuries, especially at the quarterback position, piling up here are five players you should look to add in your fantasy leagues:

RB Raheem Mostert

When the season started, Mostert was the third back in a 49ers offense that seemed to struggle figuring out their identity. After a breakout game in Week 2 against the Bengals, Mostert had 13 carries for 83 yards and three catches for 68 yards and a touchdown.

The RB1 duties will continue to go to Matt Brieda, but Mostert has been used heavily on third down and in the passing game. Look for his usage to increase as the 49ers continue to have success offensively with a young core of speedy players.

RB Frank Gore

The ageless wonder keeps on running the ball at a very effective rate in a Buffalo offense that has shocked many people around the league during the first two weeks. Last week against the Giants, Gore had 19 carries for 68 yards and a score. He also added two catches for 15 yards to sprinkle some extra fantasy points in there.

Gore and rookie Devin Singletary have been a formidable one-two punch the first two weeks of the season, but with “Motor” Singletary set to be limited with a hamstring injury, Gore’s usage could increase as the lead back. The Bills will host Cincinnati this Sunday so look for the 36-year-old halfback to have another solid performance.

QB Mason Rudolph

With Ben Roethlisberger set to miss the rest of the season after elbow surgery, Mason Rudolph is the next man up. The second year quarterback out of Oklahoma State saw his first NFL action on Sunday against the Seahawks and looked pretty good going 12 of 19 for 112 yards with two touchdowns and a tip ball interception.

As Rudolph becomes for comfortable with the offense and his receivers, look for him to have a solid season going forward with a great offensive line, a talented receiving corps and a solid rushing attack. The Steelers season is far from over just because Big Ben will be out for the remainder of the season. Rudolph will guide this team to some success.

WR Demarcus Robinson

Patrick Mahomes is pretty good…and what is even more impressive about the reigning MVP is his ability to spread the ball to multiple receivers. Week 1 was Sammy Watkins having a dominating game. Last week, it was Demarcus Robinson. With a six-catch, 172-yard and two-touchdown performance against Oakland, Robinson may be what the Chiefs need to fill the void left by the injured Tyreek Hill.

Robinson, once a fourth-string receiver in Andy Reid’s system, has been around since 2016 mainly as a special teams player. With a monster breakout game last Sunday, look for Robinson to be a huge part of the best offense in the NFL. His fantasy stock is rising rapidly so make sure to get out and add him if you haven’t already.

WR Deebo Samuel

Another 49er emerging as a legitimate threat in this league is Deebo Samuel. The rookie out of South Carolina was very impressive Sunday against the Bengals with five catches, 87 yards and a touchdown.

Jimmy Garappolo has a talented cast of young receivers and as the weeks go on, Samuel will be used not only in the passing game but the run game as well. Samuel has the potential to be a fantasy monster so make sure you scoop him up too early rather than too late.
