Dec. 15--One man is dead and eight others were injured in shootings since Sunday morning, Chicago police said.
A 26-year-old man, who was shot Sunday at 10:10 a.m. in the 7200 block of South May Street in the Englewood neighborhood, has died, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a police spokeswoman.
The man, identified as Andrea D. Donner Jr. of the 7000 block of South Lowe Street, was pronounced dead at 10:41 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office and police.
Donner died from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.
At 4:45 a.m. a man and a woman were injured in shooting on the 3700 block of West Leland Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a police spokeswoman.
A 27-year-old man was shot in the right elbow and was in good condition at Swedish Covenant Hospital, said Lemmon. A 29-year-old woman was shot in the left thigh and was taken in good condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital, said police.
The two people were in a vehicle when they were shot at, said police.
At 4 a.m. a 49-year-old man was shot on the 200 block of South Kilbourn Avenue in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, said Lemmon. The man was shot in the thigh and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition had stabilized, police said.
According to preliminary information, the man was in an apartment when he was allegedly shot by his girlfriend's adult son who then fled, police said. No one was in custody.
At 9 p.m. Sunday, a 20-year-old man was shot on the 3900 block of West Jackson Boulevard in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, said Lemmon.
In another shooting, a 24-year-old man was shot in the 5100 block of West Concord Place in the Austin neighborhood at 4:10 p.m., police said.
The man was shot in the left arm and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition, police said.
Earlier, a 22-year-old man was shot in the 5600 block of West Madison Street in the Austin neighborhood at 12:56 p.m., Tannehill said.
The man managed to get to West Suburban Hosptial in Oak Park with three gunshot wounds to his left leg, Tannehill said. The man's condition had stabilized. The man told police he was in a strip mall at Madison Street and Central Avenue when a black vehicle pulled in and a person jumped out and began firing, police said.
At 12:35 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was injured after being shot in the 1300 block of West 91st Street in the Brainerd neighborhood, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.
The teen was shot in the right foot and taken to Advocate Christ, where his condition had stabilized, Sedevic said.
Earlier Sunday, an 18-year-old man was shot in the thigh in the Pilsen neighborhood.
It happened at 7:55 a.m. as the man was in the 1300 block of West 21st Street, Sedevic said.
The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, Sedevic said.
