CHANDIGARH: The crime branch of the police has arrested five people, including two juveniles, for allegedly snatching mobile phones in Dhanas and Manimajra.
Police said three accused are Satish (32) and Satyam Kumar (24), both residents of Dhanas and Shashi Parkash of Raipur Khurd village. Ranjit Singh of Dhanas had alleged three men on a motorcycle allegedly snatched his mobile phone and sped away.
Satish and Satyam riding a motorcycle were caught at a naka put up on the road from PGI to Nayagaon on Thursday night, cops said, adding a snatched mobile phone was recovered from them. Their interrogation led police to Parkash and another stolen mobile was recovered. Police said the accused are drug addicts.
Another team of crime branch apprehended two juveniles from near Shivalik Garden, Manimajra, for allegedly snatching a mobile phone from a local resident from near the sports complex on the night of February 25. The phone was recovered. Their two accomplices are absconding.
A court on Friday remanded three accused in judicial custody, while two juveniles were sent to the juvenile home in Sector 25.
